NCX is growing and our team has just expanded with nine additional members – Joshua Surridge, Karen Kurosawa, Tom Vampola, Andy Morgan, Marianella Orellana, Megan Phillips, Megan Collette, Kyle Deweerdt, and Heather Stone.
Joshua Surridge is our Global Web Manager. He is responsible for designing the strategic vision and executing a data-driven plan to build and scale the NCX global web experience. As we use our AI-powered Basemap technology to precisely measure and unlock the value of nature-based solutions around the world, Josh is focused on helping landowners and net-zero leading companies understand the immediate impact they can make in this critical decade for the climate through their experience on NCX web properties.
Josh’s diverse interests have led him to be an early marketing hire for Red Bull Energy Drink during their North America expansion, a digital marketing leader for iconic wellness brand Canyon Ranch as the company expanded internationally, and the first director of digital experience at the University of Arizona. He is a former NCAA baseball umpire working in the Pac-12 and WAC, an active real estate agent, and an Eagle Scout. Josh has a bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University.
A native of Olympia, Washington, today Josh calls Marana, Arizona home with his wife and three sons. They enjoy hiking, traveling, cooking Latin-inspired vegan food, reading, and sports.
Karen Kurosawa joins the NCX team as a Business Development Associate. She graduated from Stanford University with a BA in economics and did a journalism fellowship at the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting before joining NCX. Her internship experiences were centered in Washington, DC, where she worked at an NGO and the National Park Service headquarters. Currently based in Oregon, Karen enjoys foraging with her partner and cooking with locally sourced foods.
Tom Vampola joins NCX as an Account Executive on the business development team. He spent the past 3.5 years in the corporate travel sector, at TripActions, where he enjoyed helping customers track carbon emissions from travel. During his time at TripActions, Tom spent 2 years on the sales team, bringing in new business, and 1.5 years building the company’s renewals organization. He had been eagerly watching companies in climate tech as he thought about how to merge his professional experience with his passion for saving the world’s ecosystems. His lifelong fascination with trees guided him to NCX, where he is thrilled to work for what fulfills him. Tom spends a lot of his time in his mountain home in Colombia, South America, and enjoys studying trees and planting a food forest when he isn’t working.
Andy Morgan joins NCX as our first full-time Product Manager based in Seattle, WA. He brings nearly 10 years of experience from Microsoft in a variety of sales, customer success, and product roles, most recently leading a team of product managers in the Cloud+AI division. Andy graduated with a BS in international affairs and Chinese from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is also a forest landowner with a deep appreciation for stewardship. In his free time, you may find him homesteading at his off-grid yurt or park hopping across Seattle with his wife and kids.

Most recently, Marianella worked for Giving Assistant, a certified B corporation, as the Executive Business Partner to the CEO, COO, CFO, and CTO. Although from Nicaragua, her favorite place to visit outside of the U.S. is El Salvador, home to some of the world’s most beautiful nature reserves such as the Bosque la Joya. In her free time, Marianella and her husband spend time with their two very active boys and one very crazy miniature poodle puppy. Marianella holds a Bachelor of Science in business management and an MBA from Grand Canyon University. She is a PhD candidate in industrial and organizational psychology at Liberty University.
Prior to joining NCX, Meagan Phillips spent the last 5 years in sales and business development roles for big tech companies in California and NYC. She graduated from UC Irvine with degrees in criminology and business management. She is excited to positively impact communities and mother nature with NCX!
Prior to joining NCX, Megan Collette spent almost two years working in business development for an education technology company in Chicago. She graduated from the University of Arkansas with degrees in international and global studies and Middle East studies. There, one of her key focuses was on globalization and its impact on society, including the effects on climate. She is passionate about how we can use technology to move our society forward to build a more sustainable future, and she is excited to apply the skills she’s gained to help companies reach their net-zero goals through NCX!
