The Society of American Foresters devoted its August issue of The Forestry Source to the topic of forest carbon.  SilviaTerra’s NCAPX was featured in an article that explored how our pilot project in Pennsylvania (check out this visualization for more details) worked for both small and large landowners.

The profession of forestry is at an exciting crossroads.  As markets continue to emerge for forest-based ecosystem services, SilviaTerra will keep creating data-driven solutions that democratize access to these markets.  Stay tuned for more articles in our Biometrics Bits column about measuring and paying for ecosystem services.

If you’re a member of SAF, you can view the August issue here.

Finally, there is a small but important error in the original Forestry Source feature article.  SilviaTerra NCAPX is a results-based (rather than a practice-based) carbon program.  In future posts, we’ll explore why this is such an important distinction.
