Today, we’re excited to announce the NCX carbon credits map, showing landowner generated carbon credits available for purchase across the United States. At NCX, the mission to democratize access to natural capital markets is the driving force behind our daily work. Our carbon credits map tells the story of this mission and empowers sustainability leaders to support local landowners with immediate action for climate impact towards their net-zero goals. Users can view enrolled forested acres by state to see supply available in their local areas.

How it works:

  • Click on a state to see how many acres of forest is ready to defer harvest
  • Click on the icons to hear landowner stories from across the country
  • Get in touch with our team to learn how you can purchase carbon credits from landowners in your area

We asked net-zero leaders: What is unique about NCX compared to other carbon credit offerings? Their answer was consistent: landowners. Buying carbon from NCX means that landowners big and small across the contiguous United States, representing 4.6 million acres of forested land, are directly supported. Every purchase a buyer makes helps put carbon on equal economic footing with timber.

“Land has an expense to it — you need to pay property taxes to ensure it remains yours. So, how can forest landowners get an income from their land to cover these costs? Typically it’s through the sale of timber. Now NCX offers an alternative for helping folks generate some revenue from their trees to help offset the costs of owning it.”

– Gary G. from Pennsylvania

The NCX carbon credits map represents thousands of landowners who have offered to defer timber harvest in support of climate impact. Our most recent annual landowner payments totaled $2.5 million which sequestered over two million tonne-years of carbon across 1.17 million acres of forest.

We invite you to browse available carbon offered by landowners and get in touch with us to learn more about how you can play a role in supporting local landowners and the climate.
