This week, SilviaTerra founder Max Nova spoke at the national ACF conference about how to “Make Remote Sensing an Easy Part of Your Daily Workflow.”

There was a packed crowd at the grand and historic Grove Park Inn in Asheville. It was great to have so many Plot Hound users in the audience!

Max talked about frameworks that consulting foresters can use to separate hype from reality when it comes to remote sensing. Drawing on some of SilviaTerra’s recent “Biometrics Bits” articles, Max talked about the different types of error that occur in different approaches to forest measurement as well as how to quantitatively determine the optimal target precision for an inventory.

Plot Hound and Canopy lead developer Charlie Wade also gave a brief demo of how remote sensing could be automatically integrated into an everyday timber cruise. We have some exciting new developments coming for consulting foresters, so stay tuned!
